Sarah Romer
Keeper, Budongo Trail
Sarah Romer has been a zoo keeper since 2000 when she started her zoo keeper certification course at Kolding Technical School in Denmark. Since then she has worked in conservation, research, and education in a salt-water aquarium and zoos in Denmark, and worked with marine mammals in an aquarium and research centre where she trained Harbor Seals and Harbor Porpoises and assisted in studies on marine mammal hearing (identifying the effects of commercial industries building windmills in water on marine mammals). Sarah came to Edinburgh Zoo, RZSS in 2008 to become an animal presenter, training a variety of animals to feel comfortable showing their natural behaviours to the visiting public. In June of 2008 she joined the Budongo Trail team and has enjoyed putting her training experience to good use with such a great group of chimpanzees.
